Twin Peaks S1 ★★☆☆☆

My girlfriend Ellie died last year. I used to watch a lot of TV with her and this was the last show that we had been watching together that I hadn’t gotten around to continuing without her. We left off on the penultimate episode a year ago. One might assume that it’s taken me so long to watch the finale because of the emotional weight involved in it, but it’s mostly because the show never clicked with me.

Twin Peaks is strange, but not in the way that I expected from its reputation. It’s much more like a soap opera than I would have thought. The slow look at these people’s personal lives and drama. I don’t hate it and I don’t have any particular complaints (other than the soundtrack needing to have less of the same droning synths in every scene, even just silence would be better) but I don’t think it’s for me.
